Job description
Overview
We are currently seeking an Assistant Manager (Portfolio Supervision) for our Douglas-based Client, a leader in fiduciary services, fund administration, and management and investment advice compliance.
The Assistant Manager - Portfolio Supervision will:
- In conjunction with the Manager/Senior Manager, undertake appropriate preparation in advance of on-site inspections, desk based reviews and general business meetings as per the Supervision procedures manual
- Assist in conducting on-site inspections and desk based reviews in line with the Supervision Division procedures
- Support the Manager Portfolio Supervision Division with direct and indirect involvement in the Division's industry outreach programme
- Deal with public enquiries (including complaints against regulated entities) in a courteous and constructive manner
- Ensure breaches, complaints and errors by regulated entities are logged, risk rated (events) and reported to the Manager in a timely manner
- Support the Manager Portfolio Supervision Division with the oversight and allocation of data input and licenceholder interaction tasks through both the Division's generic email and telephone, and postal receipts
- Supervise the Portfolio Officer(s) and engage with the licenceholder daily interactions as required, including email, phone and meeting and the recording of the interactions within the organisation's systems and data warehouse
- Support the Manager Portfolio Supervision Division with quality control of data input for the team, escalating issues as appropriate and delivering exception reporting to the Manager and/or Senior Manager
- Assist in the review and contribute to proposed new and changes in existing legislation or supervisory policy as directed by the Manager/Senior Manager
- Ensure internal systems and procedures are maintained and adhered to including Atlas, on-line reporting systems, collating statistics, Supervision Division service level standards and procedures
- Ensure matters considered to have a material or significant impact on the operation of the Division and or the organisation's strategic objectives are escalated to management in a timely manner
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and personal development both in themselves and any direct reports
The Ideal candidate for the Assistant Manager - Portfolio Supervision - will have:
- Previous relevant experience in a financial services, compliance, regulatory, risk or audit role
- Hold or be working toward a relevant professional qualification
- An awareness of Financial Services and associated legislation, regulation and guidance including trends and developments
- Strong analytical skills, ability to quickly and accurately assimilate information, to consider any associated risks and to summarise the information effectively
- Ability to work under pressure, manage a workload of varied complexity, to manage competing priorities and to deliver against deadlines
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to build and maintain working relationships with stakeholders at all levels including the ability to contribute to the subject
- Ability to assist in preparing and conducting meetings with senior stakeholders both internally and externally
- Good understanding in relation to risk and risk frameworks including evaluating risks
