Job description

Overview

Our Client is a leading international Accounting & Consulting firm based in Douglas. As demand returns following the disruption of the lockdown period, they are strengthening their Audit function, and now require an Audit Senior to join their established team.

Role Profile

The purpose of the role is to work as part of the team, leading on site audit teams, effectively providing a hands on compliance and/or advisory role that meets or exceeds client expectations and supports the director/manager team. Your main responsibilities will be focused upon:

Markets

  • Aware of the wide range of the company's services and spots opportunities to educate clients of those services
  • Act as an 'ambassador' of the firm

Clients

  • Take responsibility for wider client management and liaison on smaller less complex assignments
  • Take an active part in the audit planning discussions to identify audit risks and appropriate audit strategy
  • Communicate any issues relating to an audit with manager or director including matters which arise during the audit which were not identified at the planning stage
  • Ensure the efficient use of appropriate software packages
  • Oversee all aspects of audit fieldwork and completion
  • Prepare or review work papers and drafts of the financial statements
  • Produce client deliverables, specifically drafting sections of the report to management
  • Address, discuss and advance conclusions in respect of technical and audit issues identified during the course of the audit
  • Maintain up to date understanding of clients' business
  • Maintain good working relationships with client staff
  • Adhere to the firms risk management policies and procedures, including being familiar with and consulting the audit manual

People

  • Delegate work to other members of the audit team, ensuring associates understand their responsibilities and have received appropriate on-the-job training/coaching
  • Attend training courses as identified in order to develop both technical and personal skills and keeps records for compliance purposes
  • Maintain an understanding of audit methodology
  • Contributes to departmental and office meetings

Operations and results

  • Control the audit in relation to timescales and risk management procedures
  • Consistently achieve deadlines and understand the commercial implications of actions relating to productivity, recoverability, fee income and client service
  • Accurately record time spent and document reasons for overruns
  • Communicate workload with manager or director

Person Profile

  • Recently qualified or part-qualified ACA or ACCA
  • Have recent audit experience (minimum of 1 year)
  • Communication skills, and the ability to liaise with clients of all levels, up to board and HNW/UNHW
  • Confident leading and directing an audit team
  • Have an eye for detail in all aspects of work, while being aware of a timely and on-budget delivery of audit outcomes

Desirable

  • Experience with a variety of accounting software packages
