Overview
Our Client is a leading gaming sector business who are enjoying continued growth and expansion across a number of departments. They are now seeking an experienced HR Officer to join the team in support of the Group Head of HR.
Role Profile
Reporting to the Group Head of HR, you will join a small team with responsibilities for employees across multiple locations, to include the Isle of Man, United Kingdom, Jersey, Australia, and South Africa.
Duties will include:
- Work closely with the management team and individual employees, being the first point of contact for HR generalist queries
- Support and guide the workforce abiding by jurisdictional employment legislation and company processes
- Be a resourceful HR Generalist with the ability to support the continuous growth of the HR team, ensuring processes are efficient, meet business demands and abide by current employment legislation
- Beproactive in forthcoming changes within the industry to ensure the HR team are always ahead of coming employment law changes which may have an impact on one of the jurisdictions, making recommendations to the Group Head of HR or Senior Management team as required
- Have both administrative and strategic responsibilities, helping to plan, host and administer a variety of events, and/or tasks, for example, recruitment, training & development activities, benefits administration, performance management processes, payroll Office
- Deputising for the Group Head of HR, if/where required
- Keep up to date with employment legislation and best practice techniques, including industry specific requirements across all jurisdictions
- Assist the Group Head of HR with forthcoming legislative changes by jurisdiction and reporting findings to the board of directors, making recommendations on the way forward
- Review HR policies and processes to ensure these remain fit for purpose and meet business and legislative requirements
- Gain employee and management feedback on HR processes and act on this information appropriately
- Responsible for developing effective working relationships and able to work across all business functions to deliver common business objectives
- Support, and advise management on relevant employment laws and complex employee relation matters, advising on best practice solutions or potential implications
- Responsible for low to mid-level HR tasks i.e.: disciplinary, performance management, absence issues
- Manage employee absence levels reporting any worrying trends to the relevant manager, Group Head of HR, or Director where applicable
Person Profile
- CIPD qualification desirable although "qualified by experience" candidates will be considered
- A minimum of 2 years practical 'hands-on' experience working as a HR Generalist in a fast-paced environment
- Enjoy working with people with the natural ability to engage with all levels of the business
- Experience and the ability to work independently without the reliance on the Group Head of HR for low to mid-level HR related activities
- Be patient, tactful, diplomatic, trustworthy and approachable
- Level-headed, resilient, consistent and confident approach when dealing with complex or difficult employee related tasks or situations
- Ability to present information and/or soft skills training to all levels of the business with confidence
- Have the ability to influence others
- Be respectful of cultural diversities in the work place
- Have good spoken and written communication skills
- Respect the importance of confidentiality, due to the sensitive nature of a HR role
- Have good organising and problem-solving skills
- Be able to work as part of a team
- Be able to work accurately, with good attention to detail
- Be proficient in excel, word, PowerPoint
