Overview

Our leading Financial Services Sector Client is continuing a high growth trajectory, coupled with an ambitious transformation programme are now seeking an Investment Control & Governance Manager to manage the effective running of the team, facilitating a high-performance culture where team members feel supported in their career development, and the setting of team objectives for the year, ensuring relevant links to the overall business strategy.

Role Profile

  • Support and develop team leaders through regular performance check-in focussing on forward looking development opportunities
  • Manage both poor performance and absence management conversations and processes
  • Objective setting for team members, linked to team and business goals
  • Promote the use of Ability6 within the team. Working with Team leaders to use the tool to track and drive development for employees and identify skills gaps/key man dependencies, while maintaining overall accountability
  • Enable a culture of support and recognition within the team, through conversations with team members, to ensure that the Team Leader check-ins are providing the necessary level of support for the team members to aid ongoing development and achievement of objectives
  • Contribute to team motivation with regular team discussions and team meetings. Influencing a culture of inclusion, cross-team collaboration, recognition, and support
  • Conduct year end review meetings for the team, using regular check in output and Team Leader feedback to drive a fair assessment of performance
  • Timely identification of poor performance and absence levels within team, working with the Team Leader to instigate appropriate processes to mitigate risk to business as swiftly as possible
  • Responsible for all team recruitment
  • Accountable for the co-ordination of the team's activities, escalating concerns and providing recommended solutions
  • Communicating positively with the team in relation to targets and quality
  • Regular analysis of data from Ability 6 & quality monitoring, capacity planning within the team. Co-ordinating identified efficiencies, including the realisation/creation of automation benefits
  • Accountable for overall team capacity planning
  • Accountable for risk management within own team, ensuring breaches and complaints are identified and the required investigations and root cause analysis has taken place to identify any development that may be required to enable the team to learn from and mitigate mistakes
  • Driving a positive culture of support in respect of risk management, helping team members to embrace and understand root cause analysis, supporting a culture of autonomy and team empowerment to make appropriate risk-based decisions
  • Ownership and accountability of assigned operational processes at function level
  • Contribute to team motivation, through regular team catch ups and team meetings. Influencing a culture of inclusion, cross-team collaboration, recognition, and support
  • Working with own peer group to share best practices and learnings, helping to drive the success of the management community and the ongoing development of employees
  • Representing Senior Leaders as required during periods of absence and/or cover in any required meetings

Person Profile

  • Good understanding of Life Assurance sector - specifically jurisdictional and asset regulations, as well as corporate action events
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Desire to support growth and development of people and ability to deal with difficult situations/conversations
  • Great communication, both written and verbal along with good interpersonal skills
  • Experience in risk management
  • Route cause analysis & problem-solving skills
  • Being a role model for the team
  • Ability to interact with other teams and work collaboratively to achieve the best customer outcome
  • Integrity & discretion are key skills
  • Ability to prioritise and ensure deadlines are met
