Overview

An opportunity has arisen within a leading Douglas-based Finance Sector company for an experienced Lead Systems Developer with a demonstrable track record within an IT Services Team focused on production of high quality applications for the financial services environment.

Role Profile

The purpose of this role is to make a significant contribution within the Development Team towards their objectives of ensuring that the Information Systems Department develops, delivers and maintains reliable and accurate business website applications and systems that provide real benefits to the business areas throughout the company and external users

Day to day you will:

  • Specify user/system interfaces, translate logical designs into physical designs taking account of target environment, performance & security requirements, and existing systems
  • Produce detailed designs and document all work using required standards, methods and tools, including prototyping tools where appropriate
  • Set or participate in the setting of standards for programming tools and techniques, including security guidelines, and the selection of appropriate development methods
  • Advise on application of standards and methods and ensures compliance
  • Take technical responsibility for all stages and/or iterations in a software development project, providing method specific technical advice and guidance to project stakeholders
  • Assign work packages, monitor performance and manage change control dynamically, to optimise productivity
  • Provides advice, guidance and assistance to less experienced colleagues as required
  • Monitor service component capacity and initiate actions to resolve any shortfalls according to agreed procedures
  • Apply techniques to control the demand upon a particular resource or service
  • Assess and analyse release components
  • Provide input to scheduling
  • Carry out the builds and tests in coordination with testers and component specialists maintaining and administering the tools and methods - manual or automatic - and ensuring, where possible, information exchange with configuration management
  • Ensure release processes and procedures are maintained
  • Develop specialist knowledge of database concepts, object and data modelling techniques and design principles
  • Translate object and data models into appropriate database schemas within design constraints
  • Interpret installation standards to meet project needs and produce database components as required
  • Evaluate potential solutions, demonstrating, installing and commissioning selected products

Person Profile

You will be capable of leading the systems development aspect of large projects and applications, provide solutions guidance to less senior developers, and be capable of co-ordinating the efforts of a multi-developer team.

You will have a high degree of technical expertise and may lead in the development of either a particular area of systems development such as security, or in the development of solutions for specific business areas.

To be successful in your application you will have:

  • Software related BSc or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a senior systems developer using Microsoft tools
  • Expert in Microsoft .Net
  • Proficient in one or more of the following:SQL, HTML, JavaScript, C#, VB.NET
  • Familiar with SOAP and XML
  • Familiar with SOA principle
  • Demonstrate a positive motivated attitude
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Display a 'can-do' attitude
  • Ability to achieve tight deadlines
  • Take responsibility for own work
  • Understand the roles of IS within an international financial company
