Job description
Overview
Our Client is a global specialist in corporate, fund and active wealth services and is looking for an experienced Regulatory Compliance Officer to join an established, friendly team.
Reporting to the Head of Compliance, the Regulatory Compliance Officer will be responsible for implementation of a Compliance Monitoring Programme ("CMP"), ensuring the business is protected against financial crime, regulatory, reputational or operational risk.
Key Accountabilities will include:
- Assist the Compliance Team with fulfilment of all Compliance and regulatory responsibilities
- Ensure the CMP is maintained and updated as necessary in line with changes to any regulatory requirements
- Ensure compliance with relevant local laws, regulations, rules and adherence to the firms' policies, procedures and manuals
- Safeguard the reputation of the business
- Provide Assurance to the Head of Compliance and Money Laundering Reporting Officer, and ultimately the Board, that the firm is adhering with local laws, regulations, and policies, and effective controls are in place to mitigate risks
- Assess, report, escalate and track corrective action in respect of regulatory / legal / risk controls through to resolution
- Interpret regulatory rules, guidance and practice and to ensure that the operating business and its staff are aware of what they need to do to comply with them
- Monitor compliance departmental tasks which are time critical and that deadlines are met
- Implement the CMP, ensuring no backlogs develop
- Ensure that findings are accurately logged and monitored to a satisfactory conclusion. Based on findings, suggest actions required e.g. additional training, increased / reduced frequency of specific tests, system enhancements where appropriate
- Assist with provision of MI for Board reporting. Record and escalate significant findings to the Head of Compliance
- Assist in managing and supporting departmental workload and critical tasks, such as compliance regulatory returns and compliance registers
- Ensure testing criteria remains consistent with updated systems and controls and remains effective
- Prepare monthly and quarterly group compliance reports
- Work with the business to strengthen its compliance culture by clearly articulating requirements
- Provide demonstrable support for the strategy of the local business and the wider group
The ideal candidate for the role of Regulatory Compliance Officer will have:
- Ideally hold appropriate professional compliance qualifications or a number of years' experience in a regulatory compliance role
- Prior experience in developing and delivering a compliance monitoring plan
- Strong knowledge of the Isle of Man regulatory framework and international compliance standards
- Ability to adapt to regulatory changes and implement best practices effectively
- Strong report writing skills and excellent organisational skills
- Great interpersonal skills to communicate CMP findings with the business lines and how issues can be resolved
- Ability to build and develop strong working relationships at all levels
- High level of self-motivation and discipline
Desirable:
- Experience within the TCSP sector (preferred but not essential)
