Overview
Our Douglas-based Client is a leading specialist provider of corporate and fiduciary services to a range of private and commercial Clients around the world. They now require a Senior Compliance Officer to join the team.
As a Senior Compliance Officer you will be proactive in leading the AML/CFT-focused Compliance Monitoring Program and providing essential risk management oversight in a multi-category regulated TCSP and funds business.The role emphasizes compliance monitoring, regulatory horizon scanning, and risk management, with a strong expectation of contributing specialist insights to the Risk Committee.
You will bring an understanding of the regulatory environment affecting the Isle of Man and contribute to the business's ability to respond to regulatory developments, while assisting in report preparation, attending committee meetings, and potentially acting as the committee secretary, depending on experience.
Reporting to the Head of Governance, Risk & Compliance (Group Chief Compliance Officer - GCCO) you will also deputise as needed.The role will be concentrated across the key areas outlined below:
Compliance Monitoring Program Leadership and Regulatory Horizon Scanning
- Develop and lead the AML/CFT-focused Compliance Monitoring Program, ensuring it meets Isle of Man standards
- Conduct regulatory horizon scanning to anticipate and address upcoming changes in AML/CFT requirements
Risk Management and Risk Oversight
- Support business risk management efforts, with a strong understanding of the regulatory environment affecting the Isle of Man
- Maintain and update the Risk Register, ensuring it accurately reflects the business's current risk landscape
Risk Committee Involvement
- Provide expert compliance input to the Risk Committee, assisting in report preparation and regular attendance
- Serve as the committee secretary, if required, based on experience, to facilitate effective communication and documentation
AML/CFT Compliance
- Act as a key resource for AML/CFT requirements, ensuring these are embedded within compliance documentation and practices
- Provide insights into how regulatory changes impact business operations
Corporate Compliance Oversight
- Support corporate compliance initiatives, promoting consistent risk management and regulatory alignment
- Engage with directors and stakeholders to foster a proactive compliance approach
Training and Support
- Deliver or support delivery of AML/CFT and risk management training, promoting a culture of compliance awareness across the organisation
The ideal candidate for the role of Senior Compliance Officer will:
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Hold a professional diploma in compliance or Risk Management (e.g., ICA, ACAMS, CISI) preferred
- A minimum 5 years' in compliance or risk management, ideally with AML/CFT monitoring experience and the capability to deputise for the Head of Governance, Risk & Compliance (Group Chief Compliance Officer
- Strong understanding of Isle of Man regulatory environment, FSA requirements, regulatory horizon scanning, and governance best practices
- Proficiency in compliance software and document management
- Strong analytical, organizational, and reporting skills
- Ability to support Board and committee reporting with a proactive, "can-do" approach to responsibilities
