Job description
Overview
Our Douglas-based Client is a leading specialist provider of corporate and fiduciary services to a range of private and commercial Clients around the world. They now require a Senior Compliance Officer to join the team.
As a Senior Compliance Officer you will act as the Policy Gatekeeper for the regulated Trust and Corporate Service Provider (TCSP) and funds business.The role is essential to maintaining compliance across categories 3, 4, and 5 regulatory requirements, overseeing the creation, management, and implementation of compliance policies, processes, and procedures.
You will have a strong awareness of the regulatory environment affecting the Isle of Man is essential, along with experience in regulatory horizon scanning, deputising, where required, for the Group Head of Governance Risk & Compliance (Chief Compliance Officer (GCCO). The role will be concentrated across the key areas outlined below:
Regulatory Awareness, Horizon Scanning, and Compliance Implementation
- Act as the main point of contact for AML/CFT guidelines, regulatory standards, and compliance obligations across categories 3, 4, and 5
- Conduct regulatory horizon scanning to proactively identify and address changes in Isle of Man compliance requirements, reflecting a strong awareness of the regulatory environment
- Ensure regulatory requirements are fully integrated into the compliance framework using the Gatekeepers Procedures Framework
Policy, Process, and Procedure Management
- Maintain and update the central log of compliance policies, managing version control and annual reviews
- Lead annual reviews with the Board to confirm policies meet both regulatory and operational standards.
Stakeholder Engagement and RACI Role Definition
- Define RACI roles (Responsible, Accountable, Consulted, Informed) for stakeholders in policy updates, ensuring structured accountability.
- Collaborate with directors and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive and well-supported compliance practices
Forms, Guides, and Templates Management
- Oversee compliance forms, guides, and templates, ensuring they support regulatory requirements and align with best practices
Risk Committee Involvement
- Provide expert input to the Risk Committee on compliance matters, including reporting on regulatory changes and risk assessments
- Assist in preparing committee reports, attend meetings, and potentially serve as committee secretary, depending on experience
Compliance Training and Communication Support
- Identify regulatory training needs across the organization and engage with relevant teams to ensure appropriate training is delivered
- Support the delivery of regulatory training, providing resources and insights to enhance staff understanding and compliance
Continuous Monitoring and Improvement
- Conduct regular reviews of compliance documentation, refining processes to improve effectiveness
- Monitor the effectiveness of implemented changes, ensuring sustained regulatory alignment
The ideal candidate for the role of Senior Compliance Officer will:
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Hold a professional diploma in compliance or Risk Management (e.g., ICA, ACAMS, CISI) preferred
- A minimum of 5 years' in a compliance role within a TCSP, funds, or regulated financial services environment, with the ability to deputise for the Group Head of Governance Risk & Compliance (Chief Compliance Officer (GCCO)
- Strong understanding of Isle of Man regulatory environment, FSA requirements, regulatory horizon scanning, and governance best practices
- Proficiency in compliance software and document management
- Strong analytical, organizational, and reporting skills
- Ability to support Board and committee reporting with a proactive, "can-do" approach to responsibilities
