Job description
Overview
Our client is a long established Tax and Advisory business, helping clients manage their Isle of Man, UK and International tax requirements, along with business and financial structures, estate and trust planning. Their highly qualified team of advisers are either Chartered Tax Advisors and/or Chartered Accountants and now require a Tax Compliance Senior to join and support the team as the practice enjoys a period of continued growth.
You will work as an integral member of the Tax Compliance team, taking responsibility for a portfolio of personal and company tax returns, assisting with technical calculations, reviewing work prepared by junior staff where necessary, and contributing to the development of less experienced team members.
Reporting to the Tax Compliance Manager, the Tax Compliance Senior will:
- Prepare Isle of Man personal, company and trust tax returns to a high standard and in line with regulatory deadlines
- Preparation and review of Manx income tax returns and company returns
- Review draft tax returns prepared by trainees, providing constructive feedback and quality assurance where appropriate
- Monitor statutory deadlines and support timely client correspondence
- Liaise directly with clients and third parties as required regarding tax compliance queries and data gathering
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant IOM tax legislation, and share insights and updates with colleagues
- Support trainees and junior staff
- Assist in onboarding and training new team members on tax return processes and internal systems
- Help identify areas for internal process improvement or automation and contribute to implementation where feasible
The ideal candidate for the role of Tax Compliance Senior will have:
- A formal Accounting qualification
- Has a minimum of 3 years' experience in tax compliance or a similar role
- In-depth knowledge of IOM and UK tax regulations and laws
- Strong analytical thinking ability with a focus on detail
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable:
- Hold ATT qualification or is willing to study toward qualification
