Overview

Our Financial Services Client in Douglas is enjoying tremendous growth and have ahead of them an exciting technology portfolio. To support these endeavours, they require an experienced Test Lead to join the QA team.

Please note - this role does require you to be located on, or full relocation to the Isle of Man and cannot be undertaken remotely

The Quality Assurance team software testing services to both projects and BAU. Ensuring new and amended systems, configurations, packages, or services, together with any interfaces, perform as specified (including security requirements), and that the quality risks associated with deployment are adequately understood and covered.

The Test Lead is an experienced tester who can manage testing projects and has direct reports.

Role Profile

  • Take test lead role for project/BAU deliveries, planning test activities, setting clear expectations & allocating work to the assigned testers and monitoring progress
  • Act as quality advocate for projects / BAU work, helping to ensure that adequate time is allowed for testing and an acceptable level of coverage is achieved
  • Undertake design, management, execution and reporting of tests, using appropriate testing tools and techniques and conforming to agreed process standards and industry specific regulations
  • Design test cases and creates test scripts and supporting data, working to the specifications provided
  • Identify relevant areas for regression testing, ensuring sufficient coverage achieved to provide confidence in release
  • Interpret, execute, and record test cases in accordance with project test plans
  • Analyse and report test activities and results. Identify and report issues and risks
  • Identify, log, monitor, and re-test defects using appropriate tool(s)
  • Verify multiple quality characteristics as applicable to the item under test
  • Provide test estimates (both ROM and firm) to help ensure work is sized accurately and planning is on the correct basis
  • Provide regular progress reports (verbal and/or written as needed) to QA Manager / PM / senior managers / stakeholders
  • Proactively identify and escalate issues that impact testing, provide suggestions for mitigation / course of action & take ownership of relevant mitigating actions
  • Completes assigned work by deadlines, and escalates appropriately where deadline is in jeopardy
  • Specifies, or provides input to, acceptance criteria, in clear and precise terms, in order to ensure protection from identified system weaknesses
  • Supports User acceptance testing phase
  • Maintains skills required to adequately fulfil all aspects of their role
  • Continually develops knowledge of systems, identifies own knowledge gaps and actively seeks out training
  • Provides regular, planed training to colleagues, working closely with QA Manager to identify team skills gaps and work to close these
  • Provides ad-hoc training, mentoring and support to colleagues
  • Seeks to expand knowledge to new areas, in particular test automation
  • Ensures that objectives and standard processes & procedures cascade down to direct reports so they can contribute to the overall success of our team
  • Works with direct reports using the Skills Matrix to design and implement a personal development plan to support their continuous improvement and knowledge growth
  • Ensures there is a positive work/life balance for direct reports

Person Profile

  • Educated to a bachelor degree level or hold a relevant professional qualification or relevant experience in career history
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a software testing role
  • ISTQB Certified
  • Previous experience leading testing & managing resources
  • Attention to detail demonstrated by applying appropriate quality standards to all tasks undertaken and ensuring that nothing is overlooked
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexible and can take account of new information or changed circumstances and/or business requirements and modifying response to a problem or situation accordingly
  • Goal Orientated & pragmatic to focus on delivering agreed objectives
  • Excellent problem solving skills
