Overview
Our Client are an internationally renowned engineering business, who are enjoying continued growth across many departments. They are now seeking a Production Scheduler to join an established team.
The Production Scheduler will execute and schedule WTL's (Work-to-Lists) to produce short-term plant / work centre schedules using SyteLine 10's core manufacturing modules. This role releases firmed orders from planned, analyses resource capacity, balances machine lines, and utilizes real-time shop floor data to maintain exceptional schedule attainment.
Key responsibilities will include:
Systems Scheduling & Execution
- Convert MRP-planned orders into firm Job Orders or repetitive Production Schedules
- Configure, sequence and execute the daily Syteline Scheduler/APS planning runs
- Establish order-level priorities by applying Sequence and Selection Rules to work centre WTL queues
- Release and manage discrete multi-level job cards/work orders and rate-based production runs
Capacity & Bottleneck Control
- Monitor finite and infinite resource allocations defined Work Centres and Resource Groups
- Analyst Exception Reports and critical path delays to identify and resolve/escalate order lateness
- Dynamically adjust the active schedule (WTL) to address machine downtimes using drag and drop sequencing where applicable
- Review Shop Load data against shift expectations, holiday calendars and preventive maintenance periods
Material Sync & Backflushing
- Use Syteline material planning reports to cross-reference component availability before releasing orders
- Troubleshoot material variances, evaluating Item Masters, standard routing logic and Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Monitor automated Material and Labour Backflushing parameter settings to preserve WIP tracking
Shop Floor Integration
- Partner with Operations to deploy daily Online Dispatch Lists for shop floor execution
- Monitor real-time labour tracking data (via Info Factory Track or native Syteline data collection)
- Audit operational transaction data, tracking run times, labour efficiencies and close job variances
Cross-Functional Alignment
- Coordinate closely with the Master Production Scheduler to align tactical schedules to the Master Schedule
- Utilise Capable-to-Promise (CTP) logic within APS to assist Customer Service with reliable leads
- Create, track and monitor customer burndown plans, monitoring WIP, Inventory and available to promise commitments, reporting actual performance and target/expected delivery to the Customer Accounts Team
The ideal candidate for the role of Production Scheduler will have:
- 2 to 4 years of production scheduling experience in a fast-paced manufacturing facility would be ideal
- Experience of ERP systems and advantage
- Good understanding of MRP system mechanics
- Competent with Excel, handling routing matrices, data exports and tracking sheets
- Proficiency navigating data tables
- Strong structural data logic, proactive troubleshooting
- Ability to balance production schedules with system-drive scheduling calculations
- Vocational Education in relevant subjects
