Overview
Our Douglas-based Dry Cleaning and Laundry business is facing consistent growth in workload and now requires an additional Laundry / Dry Cleaning Assistant who has the capability and ambition to perform the role of Assistant Manager. Full training will be necessary and offered to the right candidate.
The duties of the Laundry / Dry Cleaning Assistant will include:
- Training on how the machines work, how to maintain them and the maintenance scheduling
- How the work flow in the shop works. This can be easy if you do it daily, but it takes time to get the basics
- Reception - receiving from the clients, categorising the received items into laundry or dry cleaning and if spotting is needed
- Pricing customer needs and managing the day to day workloads so that one day is not overfull and not achievable or dating it too far ahead and clogging up the shelves
- Sending messages to customers for collection once the articles are complete
- Handing over finished articles to the clients, and receiving payments
- When there is a lull in reception, matching finished articles to the clients' tickets and quality control. NOTE: This is one of the most important aspects of the role because the company's reputation depends upon completed articles being well presented and finished off perfectly
- Between the above, all machines need to be running, (loading, transferring and cleaning). This alone can keep you busy all day as each machine needs certain cleaning after each cycle
- Ironing on the presses and the irons.
- Regular and updated training on all the equipment to step into another position, if one of the team is on leave or absent through sickness
The ideal candidate for this roel will be:
- Physically fit, aligned to the nature of the role
- Diligent, with strong attention to detail
- Confident speaking with customers and procesing payments
- Numerically capable of pricing requirements according to the company's stated pricing structure
- A team player
