Overview
We are currently seeking a Manager (Non-Life Assurance) for our Douglas-based Client, a leader in fiduciary services, fund administration, and management and investment advice compliance.
The Manager will be responsible for the effective and efficient supervision of regulated entities ensuring that they meet the requirements of the legislation relating to the non-life insurance sector, which includes authorised insurers, general insurance intermediaries and regulated insurance managers.
You will be:
- Responsible for the day to day supervision of the non-life entities regulated under the Insurance Act 2008 and associated legislation; guidance and other relevant legislation
- Lead on the evaluation of proposals for new applications and changes to existing entities
- Performance of reviewing, documenting and evaluating of regulatory returns and their underlying business profiles
- Lead the planning, organising and conducting of on-site inspections
- Review and/or prepare firm and sector supervisory risk assessments
- Contribute to the development of new regulations and guidance
- Contribute to the ongoing development of regulatory systems and controls
- Ensure the accuracy, validity, completeness, timeliness, and consistency of data when processing in in-house systems
- Work on special ad hoc projects as identified
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with regulated entities and other regulatory agencies
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with relevant industry bodies and government agencies
- Deal with public enquiries (including complaints against regulated entities) in a courteous and constructive manner
- Set an example to staff to maintain and develop a positive professional culture within the organisation
- Input into supervisory strategy and plans for regulated entities
The Ideal candidate for the role of Manager will:
- Hold or are studying toward a relevant professional qualification
- Extensive relevant industry experience in an operational, actuarial, compliance, insurance,risk or audit / accounting role
- A well-developed working knowledge of Non-Life Insurance and associated legislation, regulation and guidance
- Proven ability to build and maintain working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders at all levels including the ability to influence and negotiate
- Strong analytical skills, ability to assimilate information quickly and accurately, to consider any associated risks and to summarise the information effectively
- Ability to work under pressure, manage a workload of varied complexity, to manage competing priorities and to deliver against deadlines
- Ability to prepare, lead and conduct meetings with stakeholders both internally and externally
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team
- Experienced user of Microsoft Office suite applications
Desirable:
- Strong working knowledge in relation to risk and risk frameworks, including the ability to identify, evaluate, rate, manage and mitigate risks and the ongoing monitoring and review of risks
