Overview
Our leading Douglas-based Finance Sector Client is undergoing a time of significant growth and transformation as they complete the integration of a recent corporate acquisition. As the team grows, they now require an Investment Accountant to join the team.
The Investment Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate accounting, financial reporting and analysis for investment assets within the life companies, including assisting in the production of Singapore ILP financial statements for audit and sign-off. The production of accurate and timely information is essential in order for management to manage the business and to enable them to meet regulatory and group obligations.
Duties will include:
- Monitor investment accounting activities and ensure adequate controls are in place
- Prepare analytical review of the investment performance including comparisons and commentary to market movements
- Develop appropriate expectations of performance to facilitate analysis
- Work with the actuarial function to ensure the completeness and accuracy of unit linked investment assets with reference to the unit liabilities and liaise with the investment pricing and operation teams
- Assist in managing the annual investment reporting audit delivery and compliance with regulatory and group accounting requirements
- Develop and review procedures, controls and reporting to improve the quality of reporting, the value add from analysis and reporting and the efficiency and cost effectiveness of the team's work
- Interrogation of finance systems including SUN, fund accounting system and policy administration systems where applicable
- Assist with the relevant development of ongoing projects and existing processes with particular regard to the harmonisation of the teams into a group investment reporting/accounting function
- Production of financial statements for Singapore internal funds (ILPs) including co-ordination with auditors and Regulator
- Ensure investments are analysed fully for RBC Regulatory purposes for all Group insurance companies
- Assist in the accurate and efficient processing and recording of multicurrency investment related transactions within the Back Office environmen
The ideal candidate for the role of Investment Accountant will be:
- Ideally, ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or Securities and Investments qualified or qualified by experience
- Minimum 3 years' relevant experience in insurance or investment accounting
- Technical knowledge of accounting for financial services
- Good practical experience of preparing financial analysis
- Highly numerate and analytical - able to interpret and understand results
- Clear thinker - able to understand and unravel complex issues
- Able to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines and balance competing priorities
- Able to communicate clearly at all levels (both orally and in writing)
- Good system skills and ability to deal with large amount of data
